Open Releases and choose the portable ZIP for your desired Play version. Play V2 is an alpha.
Extract the entire ZIP into its own folder. Keep all included files together.
Start NV-UV-Play.exe. The .NET runtime is included. Play runs on its own and does not need MSI Afterburner.
GeForce RTX desktop models in the RTX 20, RTX 30, RTX 40 and RTX 50 series on Windows 11. Individual features depend on the GPU and driver.
Not yet. Play is currently intended for desktop graphics cards.
Do you have more than one GeForce graphics card in your PC? Yes, Play lets you select a target GPU. Under Settings → NVIDIA GPU for Play, choose the card you want Play to control. Save the selection and restart Play.
Profiles, readings and DCC Automatic use the selected card. The limitation applies to the separate DCC NVIDIA Experimental mode (Power Efficiency Mode), which currently requires a single NVIDIA GPU. The Voltage Step Scanner has the same restriction.
Selecting a GPU in Play does not change the GPU used by a game or Lossless Scaling. Full multi-GPU hardware validation is still pending.
No. NV-UV is the companion app for MSI Afterburner. NV-UV Play is a standalone application and does not require Afterburner. Use Play separately from MSI Afterburner for GPU tuning.
No. NV-UV Play is free of charge.
NV-UV Play is currently not open source. Please refer to the included license notices for terms of use and further licensing questions.
So far, I have personally verified Play on Blackwell (RTX 50). The community has also confirmed compatibility with Ada (RTX 40) and Ampere (RTX 30).
RTX 20 remains experimental. Multi-GPU hardware tests are still pending. New hardware writes, such as experimental voltage settings and fan control, have not been comprehensively validated.
The overlay supports desktop, windowed and borderless modes. Exclusive fullscreen has not been supported since v2.0.8.
Yes. Community-tested profiles and Auto-UV provide a starting point. Every GPU and game can behave differently. Test settings on your system and follow the notices in Play. A passed test and Stabilizer do not guarantee lasting stability.
